How do I arrange to visit a Resident?

You do not need to make an appointment to arrange a visit. We feel that you should be able to pop in at any time. If you wish to see the Manager, it is best to make an appointment to make sure she is available.

When a new resident comes into our care for the first time, they are encouraged to write to friends, relatives etc. providing them with their new address and inviting them to visit.

Visitors are welcome at all reasonable times any day of the week.

Provisions are made for those in our care to be visited in strict privacy and comfort, wherever they choose.

How much will it cost?

Acorn Care Homes pride themselves on being a great value care option that is affordable for most people. There’s a range of options available, you’ll be able to discuss this with the manager as it will be tailored to the needs of the resident. She can also provide guidance on government allowances and support as well as care financing options. The only additional costs which are optional outside the normal fees would be for reflexology, hairdressing, aromatherapy, newspapers etc. so it’s easy to budget for care.

How quickly can you help?

It needn’t take very long to arrange a move; team members are well trained and highly experienced in helping people to arrange the move as smoothly and as easily as possible. Where we need to act fast we do and the move will always be arranged to suit the needs of the resident and their family.

How are your staff trained and monitored?

We maintain the very highest quality in all that we do through on-going training and personal development

of our staff. The Registered Care Manager at Acorn Lodge is a senior carer in charge working Monday to Friday and contactable out of hours through the senior carer.

The Registered Care Manager at Acorn Home is at NVQ level 4, working Monday to Friday and contactable out of hours through the senior carer. Each shift is led and monitored by a senior carer, with

nearly all care staff having attained NVQ level 2 or 3.

What’s the food like?

The food at Acorn Care Homes is one of the highlights, all freshly cooked from scratch, using top quality local produce to make delicious recipes that form a menu that is varied enough to stimulate appetites and maintain enjoyment of food.
